Biopower 8 modularized power plant

MW Power has combined Finnish fluidized bed combustion and power plant experience for developing a new, modular solution for flexible utilization of local fuels in the capacity range of 7,6 - 9,6 MW_e and up to 20,5 MW_th. The Biopower 8 power plant is aimed at European market.

Biopower 8 plants combine innovative layout and modularity. Cost-efficiency and other competitive factors have been improved by innovative layout and modularity. Combining the know-how of the parent companies brings several benefits, for example in controlling the combustion of demanding fuels and in the reduced volume of the plant building.

One of the key components that significantly improves reliability when burning demanding fuels is the boiler floor with beams constructed of fins and water tubes connected to the boiler's natural circulation. The ash leaves the furnace with the flue gas, while the unburned coarse impurities coming with the fuel are removed from the boiler via large openings in the furnace floor.
